Settings¶
Settings is the last entry in the device sidebar. It holds the device's name, hostname and hardware model.
Renaming a device¶
| Field | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Device Name | Display name for this device in the portal. Nothing on the device changes. |
| Hostname | System hostname pushed to the device. The device starts using this name. |
Click Save Changes. The button shows Saving..., then Saved!.
Each rename is recorded on the History timeline as Display name changed or Hostname changed.
Choosing the hardware model¶
Hardware Model determines port diagram layout and port numbering. Each card shows the model's port count and port order, either Left-to-right or Right-to-left. If the port diagram on Interfaces & network does not match the hardware in front of you, change this field.
On a device that has not connected yet, the model is also what fills the interface pickers. Choose it before you configure a prepared device.
Hardware that is not listed¶
- Choose Other hardware (Not in the catalogue — state its ports yourself.).
- Enter the Interface prefix, the driver name in letters only, for example
igc. - Enter the Number of ports, from 1 to 32.
- Click Save Changes.
The card shows the interface names this produces, for example igc0–igc3.
