Organizations, Members & Account

Organizations

An organization owns devices and the people who can work on them. Organizations are created by Digilan administrators; the portal never creates one for you.

Each device belongs to at most one organization. A device that has enrolled but not been assigned belongs to none and sits in the holding zone, where only Digilan administrators see it. See Adding a device.

Switching organization

Open the user menu (your avatar) and expand Organizations. Pick one to scope the portal to it, or All organizations to see everything you have access to at once. The list shows your role in each (Owner, Admin or Member) and has a search box.

No organization yet

If you have no access to anything, the portal shows only No organization yet. Your account exists but nobody has given it access. Ask the organization's owner to invite you, or contact your Digilan administrator, then sign out and back in.

Roles

Open Team from the user menu, then the Roles tab, for the same list.

Role What it covers
Organization owner Everything in the organization: its gateways, the console, and who has access
Organization member Views and configures the organization's gateways. No console, no activity history, and cannot invite or remove anyone
Device owner One gateway: view, configure and hand it on. Nothing else in the organization

Digilan staff hold separate roles (Support, Support admin, Platform admin). Support access is not membership, so support staff do not appear in your member list.

What each role means on specific pages:

  • Governance (history, logs, diagnostics) is shown only to people who may read the audit trail. An Organization member does not see it.
  • The root console is not available to an Organization member.

Team

Team in the user menu opens the Members page for the selected organization. If you belong to exactly one organization, it opens on that one.

Tab Shows
Members Each person, their role, and (for owners) Change role and Remove
My access Who has access to the organization, then everything you yourself have access to
Roles The role definitions above
Activity When each person last used the portal; anyone who never has is marked Never signed in. Visible only to organization administrators

Only an organization owner, or a Digilan administrator, can invite people or change access. Everyone else sees the lists without the controls, with the note Only an organization owner can invite people or change access.

Inviting someone

  1. Select the organization in the switcher.
  2. On Members, click Invite Member.
  3. Enter the person's Email. If they already have an account, it is offered for you to pick. If not, the dialog shows No account found — send invite and asks for First name and Last name.
  4. Choose a Role. For Device owner, pick the Device: search by name or paste its id from the device URL (for example gw-32b20ed5).
  5. Click Send Invite.

A new account receives an email to set its password. An existing account gets the access straight away.

To give an existing account another grant, use Add Permission on the My access tab.

Who can invite

Inviting is limited to people who could then grant access: an organization owner, a device owner (for their device), or a Digilan administrator. The platform refuses an invitation from anyone else.

Account

Account in the user menu shows your profile:

Field Meaning
Email The address you sign in with
User ID Your account identifier. This is what appears in audit records
Roles Your platform roles

Below the profile, My Devices lists the devices you can see, and a link leads to Members.

Language

Choose Language in the user menu: English, Français, Français (Canada), Deutsch or Español. English and French are complete; the others are partial and fall back to English for anything not yet translated. The choice is yours alone and does not depend on the organization.
