Adding a Device

A gateway reaches your organization in two steps: it enrolls itself, then a Digilan administrator assigns it to you. You do not type a code into the portal.

How a gateway enrolls

  1. The gateway is installed from a Digilan USB installer that carries a bootstrap token. Administrators mint these at Admin → Enrollment.
  2. On first boot the gateway registers with the platform using that token and receives its own identity.
  3. It lands in the holding zone: enrolled, but in no organization. Only Digilan administrators see it there, where the device list marks it unassigned.
  4. An administrator assigns it to your organization on Admin → Devices (Assign). It then appears in your device list under Edge Gateway.

A gateway that is installed but missing from your list is usually still in the holding zone. Ask your Digilan administrator to assign it.

Administrators can also prepare a device before its hardware arrives. It shows as not connected yet in your list, and you can configure it straight away; when the box enrolls, the administrator connects it to the prepared device and it takes that configuration. See Device lifecycle.

For installation and enrollment details, see the Admin Guide: Device Setup and Enrollment.

Once it is in your list

Click the device to open its Overview: status, traffic, the agent version, what the firewall refused, and the Console button. From there, start with a local network.
