Access codes

An access code opens one published service for whoever holds it. Codes are made on the gateway itself and expire.

Where: Connectivity > Published services, on the service's card.

Creating a code

  1. Click Create an access code.
  2. Who is it for — an optional note, e.g. Installer, Monitoring centre.
  3. Lasts — 1 hour, 8 hours, 1 day or 1 week. There is no permanent code.
  4. Click Create.

The code is shown once (Copy this code now). It cannot be recovered; if it is lost, revoke it and create another.

Creating a code needs the gateway connected. Codes already issued keep working while it is offline.

Listing and revoking

The card lists each code with For (the note, or Unlabelled) and Time left. Revoke stops a code immediately, including for browsers already let in with it. Other codes for the service are unaffected.

With no codes, the card says either No codes — nobody can reach it until you create one. (code required) or No codes. Anyone with the address reaches it. (open service).

Give each person their own code with a note, so one can be revoked without disturbing the others.

What the visitor sees

Opening the address shows an Access code required page with a Code field and an Open button. After a correct code:

  • the browser gets a session for that service only — a code for cam1 does not open another service on the same gateway;
  • the session lasts at most 12 hours, ends when the code expires or is revoked, and ends if the gateway restarts;
  • the visitor lands on the page they were heading to.

A wrong, expired or revoked code gets That code does not open this device. Too many wrong attempts lock the form for a few minutes.
