First Login¶
Getting an account¶
Sign-up is by invitation only. An account is created when someone invites you: an organization owner, someone who can hand on a device, or a Digilan administrator. The invitation email asks you to set a password.
Signing in¶
Opening the portal sends you to the Digilan sign-in page.
- Enter your email address.
- Enter your password, or use a passkey.
- If you have added a second factor, complete it.
- You are sent back to the portal.
A second factor is optional. You can add one (an authenticator app, a security key or a passkey) from your account page on the Digilan sign-in service (Zitadel).
What you see first¶
The portal does not create an organization for you. What you see depends on what you have been given:
- Access to an organization or a device: the portal opens on the Hub.
- Nothing yet: the portal shows No organization yet, with the address you signed in as and a Log out button. Ask the person who invited you, or your Digilan administrator, to give you access, then sign out and back in.
Organizations are created by Digilan administrators; see Organizations.
Main menu¶
The icon bar on the left:
| Entry | What it opens |
|---|---|
| Hub | Your products, plus Needs attention: devices not reporting, Networks with no internet, Changes the device undid and Changes not yet in effect, and Your shortcuts (devices you pinned) |
| Edge Gateway | The device list |
| Monsieur Wifi | The captive-portal product, in a new tab |
| Admin | Administration pages, shown only to platform administrators |
User menu¶
Click your avatar at the bottom of the menu:
- Organizations: switch organization, or pick All organizations to see everything you have access to
- Account: your profile
- Team: the people in the selected organization (the page is titled Members)
- Language
- Switch to dark mode / Switch to light mode
- About: app version, API version and environment
- Log out
The device list¶
Edge Gateway lists the devices you can see, as cards or as a list (Card view / List view), with a search box. Above the list, Traffic refused sums what the firewalls blocked, and says how many devices reported it.
A green dot only says a device is answering. These markers say what the dot does not. Hover a marker for the detail.
| Marker | What it means |
|---|---|
| retired | Decommissioned. It is offline because nobody is running it, not because anything is wrong |
| not connected yet | Configured ahead of the hardware. It has never reported in |
| unassigned | Enrolled but not yet in an organization |
| change undone | The last configuration applied to it was reverted. It is running the previous one |
| network without internet | No outbound NAT rule translates one of its networks, so clients there reach the gateway and nothing beyond it. See Outbound NAT |
The first three explain an Offline device that is not faulty. The last two mark a device that is answering and looks well, but is not doing what you asked.
Device pages¶
Opening a device shows its menu on the left. Sections fold away with a click on their heading; the one holding the current page stays open.
| Group | Entries |
|---|---|
| Overview | |
| Connectivity | Interfaces & network (tabs: Interfaces & network, Local networks, DHCP, Internet), Routing, VPN tunnels, Published services |
| Security | Security policy, Web filtering, Monitoring |
| Building blocks | Integrations, Network objects, Detected equipment |
| Governance (tabs: History, Logs, Diagnostics), Settings |
Governance appears only if you may read the device's audit trail. The root console has no menu entry; it opens from Overview.
When you have edits that are not applied yet, the top of the menu shows You have unsaved changes.
A breadcrumb above the page shows where you are and links back.
Connection status¶
If the portal loses its connection to the server, a banner reads Connection lost. Reconnecting..., then Connection restored once it is back.
