Agent Development¶
The edge agent (digilan/edge/gateway) is a Go daemon on OpenBSD 7.8. It
fetches the device config from Nexus, renders it into OpenBSD's own files (pf,
interfaces, unbound, dhcpd, ifstated, iked, ospfd), applies it under a rollback
guard, reports state over a WebSocket, and keeps the box reachable on its own:
uplink failover, cellular recovery, relay link, self-update and self-heal.
- Structure — code organization, commands, the dev VM
- PF Generation — how
pf.confis generated - Config Generation — objects, schedules, DNS, DHCP, validating output
- Rollback — the confirm-or-rollback guard
- State Reporting — what the device reports and how
- Uplink Failover —
ifstated, probes and the egress group - Cellular — 4G detection, dialling and recovery
- Relay Link — the WireGuard link to a relay, rungs and failover
- Self-Update — OTA download, verification and watchdog
- Self-Heal — known-good restore and the isolation ladder
Operator-facing settings and commands are in Agent Configuration.
